Peter Thiel asks “What do you believe that nobody else believes?”
In our current age of “now trending,” this question is becoming more important than ever before. We have no shortage of influences telling us all about what everyone else is focused on.
So here’s a brief reminder of a few basic ideas:
The mainstream is often mistaken.
The majority is often misguided.
What is generally regarded as common sense is often indistinguishable from nonsense.
We’re often reminded of the fact that ignoring an issue doesn’t make it unimportant.
We rarely consider the opposite: that giving lots of attention to something doesn’t make it important either.
Something to keep in mind.
